I'd like to learn about how other communities tackle addressing issues and what their addressing procedures are. I'd also like to gain more information on up and coming technology and procedures to make addressing more efficient.

Anja, I am going to look into setting up some possible web-ex meetings with various application providers to show their wairs. If anyone has any certain application, or other technology that they would really like to see, let me know (Wayne.brewer@raleighnc.gov) and I will try my best to make it happen.

I'd like to learn about how other communities are creating and establishing best practices for their addressing issues. What policies, procedures, or internal workflow have been implemented. Additionally I'd also like to gain more information on how many staff are utilized in various community and their respective roles in the addressing process. I'd also like to be made aware of any present or future technology to make addressing more cost effective and decrease cost by reducing the amount of returned mail. Lastly just a chance to network and partner with others in the resolving of this problem.

Really like the existing comments offered about what this group should offer.
"How other communities are creating and establishing best practices for their addressing issues" "What policies, procedures, or internal workflow have been implemented. " "chance to network and partner with others "
As GIS Manager (who does not maintain addressing data, but provides support for staff in this role) I want to help document practices, policies and procedures. It would be nice to have some sample documents we could build upon and streamline the transition for new staff.
Its great to see this group come together with enthusiasm and energy! Thanks to the Carolina URISA board for support and to Wayne for getting this started!
A bit about our addressing configurations here at York County SC - We currently use TheAddresser (desktop/server) from bcs-gis.com Since the early 2000's York County and its municipalities have had one common addressing database. Geodatabase replication between County and the City of Rock Hill has been established and a sync takes place every hour. Other municipalities send us their addressed plats and we enter the addresses. We update our New World CAD geodatabase monthly or as needed (with addresses, streets, hydrants, etc)
